An adult content filter locks children out of internet websites that parents do not deem appropriate. Certain types of adult content filters use software with special coding so that your teenager can’t break through the minimal security the free content filters use.

I don’t have an adult content filter on my computer yet, but I have begun to look into them. My daughter is only starting school next year, so it will be a few years before she learns to type and use the internet. But its time to start thinking about what types of content she might accidentally run into while she is online. There are many ways you can protect your child from adult content on the internet, but one of the best ways is to make certain you have a good adult content filter in place so that they don’t see the mature situations and language until they are old enough to understand.

There are hundreds of kid safe websites on the internet that don’t need an adult content filter, and some have already been screened by organizations that check sites for appropriate content. Disney.com has a wonderful site full of interactive activities for young children, as I’m sure many of the other children oriented sites out there will easily pass through an adult content filter. But this isn’t going to help when you children do a search however, adult content comes up even if they can’t read yet, and pictures speak a thousand damaging words, so it best to find a good adult content filter program that you trust.

Google has a safe search feature that you can use, you just need to change a few setting on your computer and it blocks certain types of content. However, this won’t do you much good as your children get old enough and smart enough to change the settings themselves. Your computer operating system may also come with an adult content filter, but be certain that you try it out before relying upon it to keep your children safe from the adult world of the internet.

For total peace of mind, you need adult content filter software. Go to a local store see what is out there in your price range, and ask a lot of questions. If the sales person can’t help you, write down the customer service number on the box, and then give them a call. Ask them anything you need to know about filtering adult content. You could also read a few online content filtering reviews. Check them out and see what other parents recommend to keep their kids safe.
