Buying online will save you so many hours of travel and waiting time, you’ll be shocked that you didn’t start purchasing online long ago. Last Christmas, I did all of my present buying online. I know, I'm horrible. It wasn't that I didn't have the time to physically go to the malls, it was simply that I just didn't always have the energy. It's so much easier to sit in front of my computer and shop in my pajamas. Plus, buying online for the holidays meant that I could shop any hour of the day.

I managed to find quite a few great deals and got some really great presents for people. Sure, it wasn't as personal as actually fighting the crowds and standing in line for hours just to pick out their gift in person, but it was still a personal gift that I was choosing for them. Buying online even allowed me to have a larger selection and better prices too.

I was very cautious though, as buying online can be bit scary. You just never know whether or not some sites are really as safe as they claim to be and are left to wonder who is gaining access to all of your personal information. I would never purchase anything from a site that just didn't seem reputable. Small sites that I was not familiar with, I simply chose to steer away from. That doesn't mean that buying online from those unfamiliar and smaller sites is not a wise idea, it just wasn't something that I was completely comfortable with.

I did find a great gift idea on a small site and tried to check out the company but since it did not have a good reputation with the Better Business Bureau, I chose to not support that particular retail site. If I'm going to be shopping online, I want to be assured that the company is reputable and I am getting what I'm paying for.

I was actually quite amazed at how much shopping could be done over the internet. One could even buy a house or a car online! Some sites had special offers going on if you were buying online instead of in the actual store. I must say that I took advantage of some of those fantastic online buying deals. I did not choose to have the items shipped to the gift recipients, though I could have. Instead, I wanted to be able to wrap the presents and hand them out in person.

My buying online experience was a positive one. I had no problems with getting bill incorrectly or with anyone swiping my personal information. At least, I don't think anyone did. I imagine some retail stores in the malls have suffered since it became possible to do buying online but that isn't a trend that seems to be going away anytime soon. Of course, security issues are a major drawback and some people will forever refuse to do any form of buying online. They will be the grumpy folks waiting in long lines for a parking spot this holiday season.
